Clean Air

Nearly two-thirds of Texans live in places where the air is unsafe to breathe. Pollution from power and industrial plants, cars and trucks, and even ships docking in Texas ports are making many Texans sick, scarring our scenic vistas, and costing our economy billions of dollars in health care and other costs.

Texas has made some progress in recent years, including funding the Texas Emissions Reduction Program and making some initial reductions in pollutants from power plants, but more needs to be done. To bring blue skies back to Texas, Environment Texas advocates using readily available technology to reduce emissions from cars, factories and power plants and investing in alternatives like mass transit and wind and solar power.
